We are backed by the investment arm of one of America's largest furniture retailers, although we are independent and proudly building technology in service of the furniture industry and furniture shoppers.

We are looking for a Backend Engineer who will shape and implement strategic products to ensure the company stays on the leading edge of technology and delivering solutions for consumers and partners. You will contribute across the technology stack with a focus on backend services which power Furniture.com. Although not the primary focus, you could also work on the user interface of Furniture.com. You are a dynamic team player, creative thinker who has fun tackling complex problems at scale, and a strong relationship builder who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, scalable code in a multidisciplinary team working on multiple initiatives
  • Adhering to our standards for engineering, testing, and operational excellence, drive best practices across the organization
  • Design and engineer scalable backend services layer to enable scale and performance on the website
  • Partner with Technical Manager and Product Owners to review requirements and estimate level of effort
  • Deliver quality code in an Agile/Scrum environment
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Backend Engineer, with a focus on Node.js and AWS, preferably in a senior or lead role
  • Excellent understanding of TypeScript and JavaScript
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, Lambda, SQS, RDS, S3, ECS, and API Gateway
  • Proficiency in database design and management, with experience in both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB)
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
Nice to Have Skills
  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is a plus
  • Experience building user management applications and knowledge of SSO, SAML, Identity Providers like Okta, PingID etc. is a plus
  • Frontend experience with React is a plus but not required
  • Marketing aggregator or affiliate platform marketplace experience is a plus
