Job Description:
The main function of a software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical software engineer researches, designs, develops and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific and general computing applications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve the modification of existing databases and database management systems.
  • Instruct staff to write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system
  • Direct database development and approve project scope and limitations.
  • Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
  • Approve, schedule, plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems.
  • Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information.

  • Expert knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required. 10+ years experience required.

Position's Contributions to Work Group:
- Client Digital has an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated Release Engineer. The primary purpose of the role is to monitor and co-ordinate the build and release cycle of modern cloud-based customer facing Client Foresight web application by collaborating with Scrum Teams, QA, Product and Business stakeholders. You will be part of a fast-moving global team to build a best-in-class product for Client dealers worldwide to improve operational efficiency and reduce TCO.

Typical task breakdown:
- As a Release Engineer/Co-Ordinator, you will be responsible for monitoring CI/CD pipelines for smooth and successful builds and develop the UAT and production release plans. You will also be coordinating with important stakeholders such as QA, Infrastructure, Product and Business managers to resolve build problems, determine the release feature set and gathering of release documentation. Successful candidate also will perform DevOps role as secondary role. As a DevOps role successful candidate will demonstrate competency with the following AWS services: ECS, EC2, EBS, S3, Glacier, RDS, VPC, Route53, ELB, IAM, CloudFront, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, SQS, SES, Lambda. Proficient in Python programming language and tech stacks *Position is required to be remote hybrid in Chicago - onsite about one day a week. Onsite time may increase.

Interaction with team:
- Work closely with Scrum Masters and engineering team. Conducting the scrum on scrum calls and manage the release cadence and do releases.

Education & Experience Required:
- Degree with 10+ years' experience
- Master degree with 8+ years' experience

Technical Skills
(Required)

  • 5+ years of IT release or delivery management.
  • 3+ experience with CICD pipelines, GIT and DevOps tools and technologies
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills Top candidates will also have:
  • Experience in/with the following: o Azure DevOps o Working within an Agile framework (ideally Scrum) with multiple other teams as a Scrum Master or Program Manager or Project Co-Ordinator
  • Strong understanding and/or experience in some of the following, o AWS Cloud, automated CICD and BDD with Cucumber.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints
  • Passion for technology and an eagerness to contribute to a team-oriented environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer science
