Senior Data Protection Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate the data protection strategy, focusing on the implementation and adoption of secure data deidentification tools such as Voltage (MicroFocus or OpenText), Protegrity, and Secupi.

  • Architect and develop data protection solutions, providing hands-on support to build infrastructure, troubleshoot problems, and integrate code as necessary.

  • Lead and manage the performance and development of a team of data protection professionals.

  • Design and implement strategies and tactical plans to ensure secure data handling while maintaining acceptable risk levels.

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of data protection tools and methodologies, and articulate the business impact of data security policies and standards.

  • Manage and operate external data protection solutions, ensuring their effective integration and operation.

  • Recommend tactical and strategic initiatives to eliminate or mitigate data protection risks.

  • Monitor and assess new and emerging threats to data security.

  • Provide guidance and technical leadership in developing security standards and guidelines for data protection, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and policy requirements.

  • Document and advise on security improvements that balance risk with business operations without diminishing efficiencies or innovation.

  • Collaborate with Legal to identify and assess the impact of current and potential legal and regulatory issues on data protection services.

  • Participate in Customer Assessment reviews of organizational security controls for data stored, processed, or transmitted in cloud environments.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of data protection tools, particularly Voltage, and experience with other data deidentification tools.

  • Proven track record of building and managing data protection solutions.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to various stakeholders, including directors and global teams.

  • Excellent documentation skills, with experience in creating technical documentation, FAQs, step-by-step playbooks, and configuration guides.

  • Proficiency with Confluence, Jira, and other documentation tools.

  • Experience with Java/Python scripting and programming, with the ability to read, understand, compile, and test code.

  • Ability to assess risks in line with information security objectives and institutional risk tolerance.

  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and evaluation skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, presentation, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners.

  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.

  • High level of motivation, confidence, and responsibility.

  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to organize and plan effectively to meet project goals.

Education:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.

Pay Details: $50.00 to $80.00 per hour
