Summary:
We are seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Staff Accountant. This is a perfect role for someone eager to grow with our dynamic organization. This role offers the opportunity to work on full-cycle invoicing, month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations, across multiple entities and currencies. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Accounting, the ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. This individual will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting while collaborating across departments to identify opportunities for automation and optimization.
Under Surfline’s “Work from Anywhere” policy, this position may be performed on a full-time remote basis from California or a variety of locations in the US Pacific Timezone.
What You'll Do:
The base salary range for this position is: $70,000 - $85,000. In accordance with applicable state laws, the range provided is Surfline's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. In addition, Surfline offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package including 100% company-paid healthcare (medical, dental, and vision), a 401(k) plan and match, 'Use What You Need' PTO and more.

What You'll Do:
- Month-end close delivery: Complete necessary journal entries and activities accurately and on time
- Balance sheet reconciliations: Oversee the entire process ensuring all accounts are accurately reconciled, and discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly
- Full-cycle accounts receivable: Oversee the entire process of invoicing, payment monitoring, cash application, reconciliation, and collections
- Process improvements and automations: Identify opportunities for improvements to accounting workflows
- Provide support during audits, tax preparation, and other external reviews
- Work independently, and with internal stakeholders to complete ad-hoc projects and goals
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with 2+ years' experience in accounting field
- Strong Microsoft Office knowledge and experience; advanced in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on approach with attention to detail, organization, and reliability
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn and grow within the accounting field and our business
- A “get it done" attitude
- Working knowledge of US GAAP with the ability to review financial reporting
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Bill.com, Ramp, Navan)
- Experience or knowledge in handling multi-entity and multi-currency transactions is an advantage
- Passion for ocean-going activities
