The Training Supervisor oversees the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of training programs within a pork fabrication facility. This role ensures that production team members are well-equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and safety awareness to perform their jobs efficiently and safely. Additionally, the Training Supervisor leads a team of trainers within the training department, ensuring consistent training standards across the facility and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement. The role involves collaborating closely with various departments to assess training needs and drive team member development in alignment with company goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership of Training Team:

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of trainers responsible for delivering training programs to team members.

Ensure trainers are effectively equipped with the knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality training sessions.

Develop the trainers' capabilities by providing feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities.

Ensure consistency in training content, methodologies, and delivery across all training programs.

  • Training Program Development:

Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for facility team members, including onboarding for new hires and ongoing skills development.

Collaborate with department heads to customize training initiatives for specific facility needs including but not limited to quality, safety, maintenance, and human resources.

Ensure training materials are up-to-date and aligned with the latest processes, safety protocols, and company policies.

Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training manuals that trainers will use during sessions.

  • Conducting and Overseeing Training:

Lead training sessions as needed, particularly for specialized or high-priority topics.

Oversee the scheduling and delivery of all training sessions led by the training team.

Review and assess training effectiveness through feedback and observation, ensuring high engagement and knowledge retention.

  • Needs Assessment and Evaluation:

Work with department leaders and the HR team to conduct regular assessments to identify skills gaps and training needs.

Evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs delivered by the trainers by reviewing team member performance post-training.

Implement improvements in the training programs based on performance reviews, team member feedback, and evolving production needs.

  • Compliance and Safety:

Ensure that all training programs comply with industry regulations, safety standards (e.g., OSHA), and company policies.

Collaborate with the Health & Safety department to implement safety training and ensure team members understand all safety protocols.

Lead and train the trainers on incorporating safety protocols into all training programs.

  • Record Keeping and Reporting:

Maintain detailed records of all training activities, including attendance, assessments, certifications, and performance reviews.

Monitor and track the progress of both team members and trainers within the training programs.

Generate regular reports on training outcomes, team members progress, and program effectiveness for senior management review.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with production supervisors, managers, and HR to ensure that training programs align with production schedules and workforce development needs.

Communicate training schedules, goals, and expectations to both trainers and team members.

Act as a key liaison between the training department and other departments to ensure training objectives align with overall business goals.

  • Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated on the latest training techniques, technology, and industry best practices to improve the quality of training programs.

Introduce innovative training tools and methodologies to enhance team member engagement and learning outcomes.

Regularly assess the performance and professional development of the training team to ensure ongoing improvement.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Training and Development, Industrial Engineering, Production Management, Human Resources, or a related field or knowledge and experience equivalent too.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in a training or supervisory role within a manufacturing or production facility.

Proven experience developing and delivering training programs in a fast-paced production environment preferred but not required.

Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to manage and inspire a team of trainers.

In-depth knowledge of production processes, equipment, and safety protocols.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Ability to assess training needs, evaluate trainer performance, and ensure consistent training quality.

Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Certifications

OSHA Safety Trainer certification preferred but not required.

Training & Development certifications (e.g., Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) is a plus).

Working Conditions

This role will split time between the production floor and office and will have regular exposure to production equipment and machinery.

Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs may be required.

Will have work in an office setting for program development, team management, and reporting.

Regular interaction with production staff, trainers, and management teams.
