Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily pre-bill chart reviews for assigned clients, delivering findings within a 24-hour timeframe.
  • Examine electronic health records to identify revenue opportunities and ensure adherence to coding guidelines, utilizing your clinical acumen and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure accurate MS-DRG assignments.
  • Maintain comprehensive and precise records within the MS-DRG database.
  • Prepare and communicate customized recommendations to clients regarding potential reimbursement adjustments or updates.
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries and manage rebills within 24 hours to foster effective communication and support.
  • Stay abreast of coding regulations and industry standards to further develop your expertise.

Required Skills

  • Profound knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding.
  • Strong analytical abilities to detect revenue opportunities and compliance risks.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records systems, including Cerner, Meditech, and Epic.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

  • AHIMA certification (CCS, CDIP) or ACDIS certification (CCDS) is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in acute inpatient hospital coding and/or auditing, ideally within a large tertiary hospital framework.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding is essential.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records systems and experience in a remote work setting are crucial.
