The Opportunity
We're seeking a talented and motivated Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our vibrant Programs group in Stuart, Florida. This is your chance to dive into the exciting world of applied marine science and make a real impact on global ocean projects!
What You'll Do
As our new APM, you'll be the linchpin connecting our diverse departments and market sectors. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the smooth execution of a wide range of projects, from desktop studies to field expeditions across the globe. Here's what your exciting day-to-day might look like:
- Collaborate with Project Managers to track project status, deliverables, and financials
- Liaise between accounting, operations, science, and other departments to streamline project workflows
- Utilize cutting-edge Enterprise Resource Planning tools to maintain real-time project updates
- Manage equipment logistics, including purchasing, leasing, shipping, and maintenance
- Contribute to proposal efforts and maintain positive client relationships
- Ensure adherence to our high standards of science, quality, and safety.
What You'll Bring
To excel in this role, you'll need a combination of education, skills, and experience that sets you apart:
Education: An associate s degree in business, marine science, environmental science, or a related field. We also value equivalent experience, so if you have four or more years of relevant work experience without a degree, we encourage you to apply.
Project Support Experience: At least two years of experience in a project support role, preferably in a scientific or technical field. Experience in marine science or environmental consulting is a big plus.
Organizational Skills: Exceptional ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You should be able to create and maintain efficient systems for tracking project progress and resources.
Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, with advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis) including experience generating reports, inquiries, forms and widgets in ERP system.
- Familiarity with project management software and willingness to learn our specific Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools
- Basic understanding of database management
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. You'll be interacting with team members across departments and potentially with clients, so clear and professional communication is key.
Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to work, especially when dealing with financial data, inventory management, and document preparation.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills and the ability to think critically to resolve issues that may arise during project execution.
Teamwork: A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively in a team environment, supporting colleagues across various departments.
Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and the ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
Basic Understanding of Business Operations: Familiarity with basic accounting principles, procurement processes, and contract terminology.
Safety Consciousness: A commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all safety protocols, especially important in field operations.
