Job Purpose

The Manager, Digital Strategy role will oversee a team of Digital Business Strategist who are responsible for supporting the business and operations work stream within a multi-disciplinary digital product team structure. The strategists partner closely to execute several activities, such as identifying risky assumptions, building the value case, defining the future-state process vision, executing change management plans, etc. For more critical products, the manager themselves may serve as this Digital Business Strategist as a "working Manager".

The role will also serve as a leader for the product line during quarterly Program Increment (PI) Planning sessions. This can include, but is not limited to, preparing the proposed capabilities to be delivered for the upcoming quarter, participating in the respective sessions, challenging assumptions regarding feasibility, value, strategic fit. The Manager will also ensure that the products which it's team is focused on shall be delivering the capabilities requested by the business, within approved budgets and on appropriate timelines.

The scope of this role will be within the New York Electric Plan Product Line. The product line is focused on optimizing our capital investments, maintenance, and network flexibility to meet customer and regulatory demands. The focus areas of that product line can include, but are not limited to, optimizing the capital portfolio, improving collection and visibility of asset health and resource planning. Existing Products in this space include FutureNow, GridMD, Interruption and Disturbance System (IDS) amongst others.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead business capability assessment, design, alignment and roadmapping for product line with cross-functional teams
  • Construct and/or oversee business cases, including value projections and detailed investment estimate; ensure these are aligned with product definition
  • Track objectives and key results to assess benefit realization of products
  • Proactively identify riskiest assumptions and support product team in designing and executing experiments to increase confidence in business case assumptions
  • Challenge product specific assumptions regarding feasibility, scalability, business value on proposed features/capabilities
  • Ensure teams are delivering capabilities that align to approved business cases, within sanctioned budgets and at desired times.
  • Serve as first point of contact regarding reporting to Product Line Director and wider business.
  • Support business/operation work stream team, participating in Agile sprints during full product roadmap
  • Define future-state operations solution (process, org change), including detailed current state-process and future-state process documentation
  • Accountable for change mgmt. and product roll-out plan, with help from the change mgmt. team as needed
  • Provide support to product & technical workstreams (e.g., RFP support, stakeholder mgmt., value alignment, IT governance, IT PMO)
  • Support preparation of materials for key stakeholder readouts and regulatory engagements
  • Work closely with New England colleagues to coordinate feature/capability delivery across Jurisdictions


Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
8+ years of product management experience
Experience leading complex product teams, delivering in a multi-squad product model
Experience using influence without authority in the broader organization to unblock product teams
Considered an expert of agile development methodologies and the software development lifecycle
A demonstrated and focused desire to build products and services that customers will love
Excellent communication (written and verbal) as well as storytelling skills
Driven by self-motivation, independent initiative and creative problem-solving
Expert in time management and schedules to meet deadlines
Thrives in a fast-paced and intellectually demanding environment

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
Is recognized as an expert within a specific area of expertise with typically 10 or more years experience within the field. May require Bachelor's or Master's degree.
Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product or service improvements. Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. Contributes to the development of functional strategy. Operates with little or no supervision in a complex environment.
Establishes short and long term objectives; determines work activities to meet objectives; self supervisory.
Recommends/implements changes in strategy which support organizational objectives. Success depends on the ability to influence others and expresses ideas/opinions with assurance.

$134,000 - $158,000 a year

Salary - Downstate NY - Brooklyn

$162,000 - $190,000 a year
