Job Description:

The Business Analyst Reporting Specialist will report to the Manager, Performance & Analytics within the Security and Information Systems group. This individual will work closely with all the Customer & Corporate Services teams and other functional areas to build and develop metrics, processes and reports to improve and track business performance. In addition, this role will provide support on process review and process improvement as well as recommending and developing training for process changes. This position requires the ability to build strong relationships while working collaboratively with a variety of departments and stakeholders within AltaLink as well as with external entities. Preference will be given to those candidates that have experience working with large volumes of data from a variety of sources, building visualization tools that are used for current business performance tracking and identification of continuous improvement targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Works across functional lines, analyzing information and processes from beginning to end
  • Quality assurance of data, information and reporting.
  • Generate reports and/or create and design ad-hoc reports and queries from various data sources.
  • Support financial analysis and documentation for regulatory applications.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement for data quality, provision of reports, and Key Performance Indicator results.
  • Provide summary and analysis of reports, identifying exceptions, concerns and/or areas of opportunity.
  • Review and validation of existing work processes, updating process mapping as required.
  • Update and maintain internal training materials.
  • Documenting and/or updating existing guidelines and standards.
  • Development of various work artifacts and templates to improve efficiency on recurring administrative functions within the department such as monthly addendums, budgeting, tracking and forecasting, etc.
  • Participate in meetings as required, gathering requirements and producing reports or analysis as necessary.
  • Strong focus on continuous improvement, proactively identifying opportunities, developing and recommending solutions.

Requirements

  • University Degree or Diploma in Business Administration/Commerce, majoring in Finance, Data Analytics or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Business Analysis experience liaising between Business and Technical groups.
  • Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Data analytics experience, including working with a large volume of data from a variety of sources, deriving trends, analysis and making performance improvement target recommendations.
  • Proficient in the use of data visualization tools such as Power BI etc.
  • Demonstrated advanced to expert knowledge and use of Excel including macros, pivots, and model development.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge in the use of SAP including BI, FI/CO, PS, MM.
  • Experience with the theory, concepts, and application of Lean-Six Sigma programs would be an asset.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and models.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills including presentations, teaching and coaching.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for spotting opportunities for process efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with all levels of the organization with high level of personal credibility.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive outcomes.
  • Proven track record of good attendance and job performance.
