Senior Magento 2 Engineer

As a Senior Magento 2 Software Engineer, you will play a key role in growing the 2nd Swing Golf web presence across multiple channels and platforms. This position will collaborate with other software engineers, developers, front-end designers, and project managers to create new and/or improved business solutions.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: learning our coding standards and learning to work with us to enhance our websites, ERP system, and integration routines.

• Websites: Add/modify features on existing Magento 2 PHP code and possibly Angular 2 code.
• API Layer: Add/modify features on existing NodeJS code which provides data to our front-end applications and 3rd parties.
• ERP System: Configure, modify data in the ERP system (NetSuite)
• Help the team monitor and maintain clean operations of our environment.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years experience as a Magento 2 EE developer.
• Proficiency with NodeJS, PHP and MySQL.
• Strong demonstrated semi-proficiency in Javascript/Knockout and other frontend related technologies used by Magento.
• Strong demonstrated proficiency in core Magento best practices and concepts such as: plugins, events, controllers, routers, rewrites, pricing, page caching (vanilla and fastly), redis, proxy classes, modules, themes, declarative schema, schema/data patches, extension installation and configuration, deployment processes, composer, command definition, cookies, sessions, customer sections, customer segments, customer groups, order status flows, ui and layout xml, and more.
• Proficiency in LAMP environment setup and troubleshooting (though we will assist/train you). Local environment options and documentation include: WSL, raw Linux, and Docker (on Linux or Windows).
• Familiarity with apache or nginx, and DNS related concepts.
• Familiar in Linux bash scripting.
• Ability to work well individually and as part of a team
• Self-motivated work style with the ability to research solutions and learn new systems
• Strong communication skills. Ability to concisely, but thoroughly, explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to receive and provide constructive feedback, and strive for constant improvement.
• At least a few experiences customizing some of the most complex areas of Magento. Examples include: a new payment method, altered ship estimation rates, altered layered navigation behavior.
• A good eye for performance bottlenecks and spotting points of failure in both other's and one's own code.
• Must have a strong demonstrated proficiency in debugging core Magento.
• Strong documentation skills
• Must take ownership, and pride oneself, in the deliverability of software that is purposeful, worthwhile, intuitive, performant, responsive, safe, secure, on time, robust, and maintainable.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure Docker, Kubernetes and Azure, AWS or Google Cloud is a plus (though, we will train you if need be)
• Experience with MSSQL or MongoDB.
• Experience with specific frameworks and technologies is a plus: Angular 2, NodeJS Express, GraphQL, RabbitMQ, REST web services, SOAP web services.
