Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will utilize your broad mechanical engineering experience responding to Engineering Service Requests (ESR's) which includes reviewing customer specifications, drawings and requirements and developing, designing, and testing of new and alternative product design solutions. You will have responsibility for understanding the application and functionality of the products, and applicable requirements and agency standards of the products.\n\nThe work model for the role is: Onsite\n\nThis role is contributing to the Electrification Installation Products division in Hackettstown, NJ. \n\nYou will be mainly accountable for:\n\n \tPerform various engineering tasks involving such functions as analysis, design, development, test, installation and service, while working from instructions, drawings, proposals, specifications, and other pertinent information. \n \tPerform engineering documentation and control activities for drawings, BOMs, label artwork, instruction sheets, technical data sheet creation and modification, and Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) utilizing a global life cycle management system (GPLM).\n \tResponsible for ensuring that specified engineering criteria are suitable for the proposed application, and recommend appropriate design revisions.\n \tConduct cross functional design reviews to ensure that proposed design solutions meet all Customer requirements as well as manufacturing standards.\n\nOur team dynamics:\n\nYou will join a talented, dedicated team, where you will be able to thrive.

ABB Installation Products Division (formerly Thomas & Betts) helps manage the connection, protection and distribution of electrical power from source to socket. The Division's products are engineered to provide ease of installation and perform in demanding and harsh conditions, helping to ensure safety and continuous operation for utilities, businesses and people around the world. The Commercial Essentials product segment includes electrical junction boxes, commercial fittings, strut and cable tray metal framing systems for commercial and residential construction. The Premier Industrial product segment includes multiple product lines, such as Ty-Rap cable ties, T&B Liquidtight Systems protection products, PVC coated and nylon conduit systems, power connection and grounding systems, and cable protection systems of conduits and fittings for harsh and industrial applications. The Division also manufactures solutions for medium-voltage applications used in the utility market under its marquee brands including Elastimold reclosers and switchgear, capacitor switches, current limiting fuses, Homac distribution connectors, Hi-Tech Valiant full-range current limiting fuse for fire mitigation, faulted current indicators and distribution connectors, cable accessories and apparatus with products for overhead and underground distribution. Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum 2- 3 years experience in a product R&D, sustaining or similar engineering role.
- Experience using CAD software (preferably ProE/Creo) and performing 3D modeling is required.
- PTC Windchill experience is a plus.
- Must have strong analytical skills with a solutions-oriented, engineering problem solving mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a project team environment, as well as working independently to support and deliver effective solutions for assigned engineering projects.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States.
