Position Title: Media Clerk Salary Schedule: PCSD Classified
Department: School Job Code: 144200
Reports To: Principal Work Schedule: 188 days/7.5 hr.
Grade/Level: C-1 FLSA: Non-Exempt
Primary Function: General clerical/technology skills preferably including familiarity with a library or media center
Working Conditions: Physical Demands: School Office Environment Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
Constant interruptions Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone
Seeing to read a variety of materials
Sitting for extended periods of time
Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials
Qualifications
Minimum of high school diploma or GED
Two (2) years of general clerical experience involving public contact
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions
Circulate resources and other materials, and return them to designated areas
Inspect returned materials and equipment for damage, repair books and periodicals as needed
Generate a list of overdue materials, issue notices, and receive overdue fines, if applicable
Process new books, audio-visual materials, periodicals, equipment, and other materials
Assist students and staff in locating materials and answer questions regarding media services
Assist media specialist with clerical duties
Maintain bulletin boards and other displays
Operate various equipment associated with the media center
Operate computers to circulate and locate materials, access information, generate reports, and conduct inventory
Maintain records, lists and catalogs related to multi-media materials
Learn basic copyright laws
Learn District organization, operations, policies, and procedures
Prioritize, schedule and complete work accurately and on time
Communicate with faculty, staff, and others to provide information regarding equipment operation, media availability and circulation procedures
Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment
Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures
Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies
Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee
