Summary Of Functions

The Community Outreach Coordinator reports to the Kalispel Tribe Victim Assistance Services Director and is responsible for Community outreach, education, and training to promote victim services, networking, system change and support within the Kalispel Tribal Communities for victims that have been victimized by a crime.

Responsibilities

  • The Community Outreach Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to build strategic relationships and conduct a variety of outreach and educational activities to provide victims of crime support in education, resources, and referrals focused towards becoming self-sufficient with equal empowerment opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reach underserved communities about local victim services, their rights, and various options.
  • Present information about KTVAS services to neighborhoods, schools, law enforcement professionals and other community groups.
  • Collaborate with criminal justice professionals around crime victim care, and to increase awareness about crime victim advocacy available at the Council on Crime and Justice.
  • Represent the values of the agency in carrying out the work of the position.
  • Create and implement annual outreach plan.
  • Work with Kalispel Tribe’s Communications Manager and staff to develop marketing plans to provide victim of crime outreach in line with organizational objectives.
  • Attend relevant community meetings; participate in relevant councils, roundtables and committees.
  • Schedule and personally conduct at least 4 presentations a month.
  • Conduct and compile annual community awareness and satisfaction survey.
  • Maintain relationships with collaborative partners and cultivate new ones.
  • Coordinate Victim of Crime trainings and events.
  • Provide administrative assistance to Victim of Crime Advocate as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential program records for reports, funding, planning, and follow-up.
  • Adhere to ethical, legal and behavioral standards of conduct.
  • Conducts VOC outreach and education activities.
  • Coordinates community training activities.
  • Attend trainings as needed/required.
  • Ensure that all relevant KTVAS publications are kept up-to-date and are accessible.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • BS/BA Degree in Communications, Social Work, Human Services or related field, or a combination of education and two years’ experience providing equivalent knowledge.

Certificates, Licenses, Regulatory Requirements

  • Valid WA or ID Driver’s License and insurability under the Tribe’s auto policy.
  • Must qualify for a Tribal Work Permit by passing drug screening and background check.
  • Must be able to pass a Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) background check.
  • Native American preference applies.
