Job Title: Programming and Technical Support Specialist ICE Western Sales (Intermediary level)

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled individual to join our team at ICE Western Sales. The primary responsibilities for this role include providing service/technical support, developing production programs, and assisting with testing and troubleshooting on the production floor. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC systems, PLC programming (especially Allen Bradley and Schneider platforms), and BMS integration, with a focus on Distech Controls DDC controllers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Technical Support and remote troubleshooting for client during startup or troubleshooting of HVAC units.
  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs, primarily using Schneider, Allen Bradley, and Distech Controls platforms. Knowledge of additional PLC systems is an asset.
  • Assist with BMS integration and ensure seamless communication between building management systems and control platforms.
  • Support production floor activities by providing testing support, troubleshooting control systems, and addressing real-time technical issues as they arise.
  • Work closely with electrical and mechanical engineers to resolve issues related to HVAC systems and control integration.
  • Assist in factory acceptance testing (FAT) for production systems, ensuring quality and operational efficiency.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement and collaborate with the team to optimize system performance.
  • Be a key player in creating and downloading programs for control systems.
  • Modify control programs on the fly to adapt to changing production requirements or system configurations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), specifically Allen Bradley and Schneider PLCs, and human-machine interfaces (HMIs) and Distech DDC controllers.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with Schneider and Distech Controllers (minimum 1 year highly preferred).
  • Experience and expertise in HVAC systems and controls, including air makeup units, direct/indirect fired systems, and air conditioning systems (particularly DX systems).
  • Understanding of electrical power, electrical controls, and pneumatics, with the ability to collaborate effectively across electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Proficiency in BMS integration and familiarity with DDC controllers, with a focus on optimizing HVAC systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability to evaluate alternative solutions and approaches.
  • A self-starter with exceptional communication skills and a willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to modify programming based on real-time needs and constraints.

  • Experience with factory testing and system commissioning is highly preferred.
