SUMMARY:

As an IT / Network Support Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing network infrastructure across data centers and operational environments. You will work hands-on with networking technologies, ensuring seamless operations while addressing both logical and physical network issues. This role requires a methodical troubleshooting approach, strong documentation skills, and a team-focused mindset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform day-to-day network break/fix operations, with a focus on Layers 1-4 of the OSI model.
  • Diagnose and resolve network-related issues, including logical and physical connectivity problems.
  • Support and configure network fundamentals such as routing, switching, IP services, and network automation.
  • Manage and troubleshoot issues with backbone and data center networks, including TCP/IP protocols.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot internal routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP) as well as routing hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, and NVIDIA.
  • Leverage scripting and programming languages, especially Python, for network automation and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including configurations and operational processes.
  • Support vendor hardware management, including Cisco, Juniper, Avocent, and NVIDIA equipment.
  • Stay up to date with emerging network protocols and technologies, continuously learning and adapting to new systems.
  • Collaborate on technical project management tasks, ensuring effective communication and cross-team collaboration.
  • Provide support during technical network projects, including upgrades, deployments, and expansions.
  • Proactively contribute to problem-solving efforts within a collaborative team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in IT, Networking, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience:
    • Beginner to intermediate experience with network layer operations (Layers 1-4).
    • Working knowledge of at least two internal routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP) and their configuration.
    • Hands-on experience with backbone and data center networks.
    • Basic to intermediate understanding of TCP/IP, network fundamentals, and network automation techniques.
  • Certifications:
    • Vendor certifications preferred, such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or JNCIP.
    • Familiarity with vendor hardware, including Cisco, Juniper, Avocent, and NVIDIA.
  • Skills:
    • Experience with Unix/Linux systems and scripting (Python preferred).
    • Strong problem-solving abilities with a methodical troubleshooting approach.
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
    • Technical project management mindset.
    • Strong team collaboration skills with a self-motivated, proactive attitude.
