About The Position

The Automotive Lead Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles while providing leadership and guidance to other technicians. This role involves advanced mechanical work, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring high-quality service. The Lead Technician also assists in training staff and maintaining a productive and efficient work environment. Quality vehicles ensure the customer experiences The Sweetest Way To Buy or Sell Your Car. HoneyCar's simple process, transparent market pricing, desirable inventory, and daily onsite training will ensure a successful outcome for the Used car technician and the customer!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicle issues, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and more
  • Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections
  • Conduct thorough inspections and identify potential problems or safety concerns
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and troubleshoot vehicle issues
  • Oversee and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance and support
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding repair needs and status updates
  • Order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies
  • Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in automotive repair preferred
  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or equivalent credentials
  • Extensive experience in automotive repair and diagnostics
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced certifications or specialized training in specific areas of automotive repair (e.g., HVAC, diesel engines)
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or lead technician role
  • Familiarity with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) repair procedures
  • Virginia State Inspector License
