Position: Validation Engineer (Electric Motor and Generator)
Location: Mossville, IL
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days on-site)

Job Description
The Validation Engineer will focus on Electric Motor and Generator validation, responsible for planning validation activities, conducting risk assessments, and determining necessary tests to ensure components meet requirements. This role emphasizes proactive planning over execution. The validation engineering team works closely with design teams and interfaces with component and system design leads, system validation engineers, other component validation engineers, and component test teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and plan work to mitigate risk in NTI and NPI programs.
- Collaborate with design leads to establish initial first-pass test plans early in a program, including pick list reviews to document leverage opportunities, VPD, and potential test loads.
- Participate in or plan and host Simulation and Test Collaboration Workshops (STCW) early in programs, prior to DFMEA, to create a high-level Validation Plan.
- Communicate progress in Gateway Reviews, including System Readiness Summaries.
- Provide quality approval of FMEA/DVP&R with design managers, focusing on developing standard FMEA.
- Create Proactive Reliability glide paths and standard work documentation, ensuring updates and socialization within the team.
- Project long-term testing needs, including lab space, equipment, and personnel.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for myNPI issues meetings and issue resolution.
- Assist with HALT planning (without ownership).
- Oversee APQP processes.
- Provide technical guidance and capture lessons learned.
Typical Day:
- Attend project execution team meetings for assigned NPI/NTI projects.
- Assess new content, develop high-level test plans, and supplement these plans with detailed FMEA-based DVP&R.
- Present in Design Reviews and Gate Reviews on Validation Readiness.

Education Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum, with 9+ years of experience (5-7 years of experience may be considered).
- Master s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science plus 7+ years of experience.
- Doctorate degree in Engineering plus 5+ years of experience.
Technical Skills
Required:
- Previous product development experience (design, validation/testing, or analysis).
- Experience with electric drive systems and/or components, focusing on electric motors and generators.
- Familiarity with structured FMEA and DVP&R processes.
- Experience with NPI issue resolution processes.
