To support that challenge, the Automation & Engineering team is currently seeking a Fabrication and Automation Intern in Slater, IA. As an Intern you will support the development, installation, and maintenance of equipment used in the global research and development of field crops and lab activities.

Job DescriptionYou will:
- Provide mechanical design and fabrication expertise to research shop activities
- Innovate products and systems through Autodesk software
- Support electronic and automation development
- Take on a supportive role in engineering and designing applications to refine field activities by trialing personnel
- Recommend and perform upgrades to research equipment as needed
- Participate in the creation and design of innovative solutions through multifunctional teams
- Contribute to inventions, designs, other work product, including know-how, copyrights, software, innovations, solutions, and other intellectual assets
- Adhere to HSE and other compliance requirements
What you must have:
- Enrollment in a Bachelor s or Master s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Systems Technology, Mechanical Engineering or another closely related field of study
- A working knowledge of Ag electronics & mechanics including precision farming
- Understanding of the importance of safety and shop environment
- Knowledge of CAD software
- Hands on experience with essential tools while working on fabrication projects involving, but not limited to, welding, torching, shaping, cutting, and drilling of metal, plastics, etc.
- A valid Driver's License Fluent in English
What you might also contribute to the team:
- Prefer a student with a Junior or Senior class standing
- Background in agriculture is preferred Pneumatic, mechanical, fluid control, and electronic abilities a plus
- Experience with Autodesk software, Fusion 360 a plus
- Innovative: Seek new and unique opportunities to improve product quality and stakeholder satisfaction
- Ability to adapt to changing environmental/situational needs
- Ability to apply knowledge and skills to a creative, agricultural research oriented environment
- Experience and understanding of agriculture research is desirable
- Some travel is possible but not required
- Ability to work days, evenings, and weekend
- Ability to lift 65 pounds
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to set priorities, estimate input and timeline requirements, and organize personal work schedule to meet project deadlines
- Ability to work independently, as well as, within a coordinated team environment
- Proficiency in problem solving and troubleshooting Experience animating and simulating models on Fusion 360 a plus
