MW Partners is currently seeking a Director of Finance to work for our client who is a well-known leading utilities company.
Position Overview:
The Director of Finance will lead financial operations and regulatory reporting for a midstream energy company. This role focuses on managing financial statements and regulatory filings, including SEC and GAAP reports, as well as overseeing monthly and quarterly closing processes for KMI and its subsidiaries. The ideal candidate will bring both strategic insight and hands-on experience in operational accounting within the midstream sector, with a focus on fostering a developmental work environment to help advance the skills of team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting Oversight: Lead the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring timely SEC filings and adherence to U.S. GAAP standards.
- Closing and Consolidation: Supervise the monthly and quarterly close process for KMI and its subsidiaries, including reviewing journal entries and financial data.
- Debt and Treasury Coordination: Work closely with the Legal and Treasury departments to support debt offerings and other capital requirements.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Oversee documentation to meet internal control requirements, and perform detailed reviews of regulatory and financial reports prepared by the team.
- Complex Issue Resolution: Address complex accounting matters, present accounting memos for external auditors, and assist with process improvements.
- External Auditor Liaison: Serves as the primary point of contact for external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA and/or MBA preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum 10 years in an accounting or financial reporting role.
- At least 4 years in a supervisory capacity within SEC financial reporting.
- Prior experience in the midstream energy sector, with expertise in FERC regulatory reporting and operational accounting.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical skills with a robust understanding of US GAAP and SEC regulations.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Familiarity with energy industry terminology and regulatory requirements (FERC reporting experience highly preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of Workiva (Wdesk) and IFRS is advantageous.
