Contract Duration 12/1/24- 12/31/25 with possibility of an extension.
We are seeking a customer-oriented and highly motivated Scrum Master to join our clients' engineering team. This Advanced Technical Scrum Master will be working with the Patient Digital Next team which is helping our client model the way for integrated care. This team guides the web and mobile technology direction for patient-facing applications. This Advanced/Technical Scrum Master will be responsible for working with the product, development, and QA teams to support Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies in a fast paced and challenging environment. The ideal candidate will exhibit passion for streamlining Agile SAFe processes, problem solving, collaborating on solutions to improve our client's products.
Duties will include the following:
- Help the team on self-organizing to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile SAFe /Scrum frameworks.
- Be the first to notice differences and issues as they arise and elevate them to management.
- Facilitate discussion and facilitate alternatives or different approaches.
- Ensure Agile SAFe /Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to, and serve as the voice of reason and authority, making the tough calls within the organization.
- Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coach the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
- Remove impediments for the team.
- Analyze backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition and drive for change.
- Drive the value of commitments to delivery made by the development and QA teams.
- Understand other processes and methodologies and be able to speak intelligently about them and leverage other techniques to provide value to the teams.
- Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, and with an emphasis on problem solving.
- Serve as a facilitator for getting the work done, and be able to facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
- Assist with internal and external communication and with improving transparency.
- Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
- Communicate well with teams and Management.
Required Skills and Expertise:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or appropriate combination of education and experience in essential duties and responsibilities
- 5-10 years of experience leading technical and non-technical teams in an Agile environment.
- Understanding of Angular and Java languages and experience in Cloud platform implementation
- First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I) - preferred
- 4-6 years of experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least 3 years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
- Experience with fundamentals of software development processes and procedures.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to seek out underlying assumptions through probing, questioning, and listening.
- Familiarity with common Agile SAFe practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices.
- Good skills and knowledge of leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
- Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile SAFe techniques: User Stories, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, and Agile Techniques.
- Familiar with Kanban methodologies.
- Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling defect, etc.)
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills including ability to listen attentively and to communicate information clearly and effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional groups.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-building skills; ability to interact positively with teammates at all levels of the company.
