The Role in Brief:
Managing Director, Engineering Management
This role may be based out of EAB s Washington, D.C. office; Richmond, VA office; or open to remote work within the continental U.S.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering management for multiple developers, including both contractors and employees across U.S. and international teams. Engineering management includes coaching and process management to ensure best engineering practices are employed across the full product development and release cycle including discovery, requirement definition, coding/implementation of requirements, QA, and release deployments.
- Engage in architectural and technical design of cloud-based software applications across multiple development stacks to solve problems, deliver innovation, and ensure high quality, maintainable, and performing solutions. Development stacks include but are not limited to Python/Django and Java.
- Provide estimation, project planning, and design guidance to enable quarterly planning for product functionality.
- Implement strategies to ensure high retention of U.S. and international team members and set and maintain a high bar for performance and capability of team members.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree or equivalent relevant experience
- 10 - 12+ years of professional experience developing software products in a B2B or B2C setting
- 8+ years of managing and scaling engineering teams
- Experience evaluating and coordinating technical requirements, product design and architecture, and value proposition ROI analysis for technology solutions
- Successful track record of improving technical and engineering processes and driving engineering improvements, including continuous integration and continuous deployment techniques
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects and teams against a schedule and budget
- Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated working knowledge of a broad set of current and emerging technologies including but not limited to (Java/J2EE, Django, Python, PostgreSQL)
Ideal Qualifications:
- Prior experience bringing SaaS-based software products to market in higher education
- Ability to establish trust, build relationships, and influence people at all levels of an organization
- Prior experience developing applications hosted on AWS (or similar cloud-based hosting environments)

Compensation:
The anticipated starting salary (base) range for this role is $140,000 to $200,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not be limited to relevant experience, skills, and location. At EAB, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the starting salary range for their role.
This hire will additionally be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
