As we drive toward our organization's goal of becoming a customer-centric market leader, we are seeking brand ambassadors that can lead this charge. This is underpinned by having the right people in the right roles. To that end, we are in pursuit of a highly skilled automotive navigator with strong customer facing engineer experience to guide our engineering activities with our North American customers. This role, located in Troy, Michigan, is critical for our team, providing strategic and tactical support by owning the voice of the customer to our L.A. development team.
Responsibilities
- Support the development team though deep understanding of our customer s needs, wants, expectations, standards, processes, and requirements.
- Serve as a single point-of-contact for customers, responding to requests during all vehicle lifecycle phases.
- Assist and guide customers through their processes by identifying and gaining buy-in on Ampure technical solutions.
- Understand and influence our customers product road map for electrification hardware and software. While presenting future innovations that supplement and support the customer approach.
- Regularly attend customer design review meetings and provide technical design support for company solutions.
- Articulate and transfer clear needs and objectives to our core engineering team, while being a beacon of invaluable knowledge to our customers as a trust advisor. Define and transfer clear requirements and customer specifications to our technical teams.
- Gather data from the field related to warranty or non-conforming material and support the quality and manufacturing teams in working with the customer to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of EV charging market technical requirements and trends. Regularly report on market developments them to the engineering team.
- Support product management and engineering to ensure development, packaging, and release of new products align with customer product roadmap, strategy, and technical requirements.
- Support the team in identifying and implementing material and process cost savings opportunities during all vehicle lifecycle phases. Develop close working relationships with customers and understand their cost savings systems.
- Provide technical support to sales teams for EVSE chargers for on-road vehicles.
- As the face to the engineering organization support and work seamlessly with the CEMs (Customer Engineering Managers) to consistently deliver projects on-time and in-budget while meeting all customer requirements and expectations.
- Proactively, support all field issues, and work with the team to find countermeasures and quick resolutions.
- Lead and support all customer meetings and events, including but not limited to in-person engagement during customer site visits, engineering change reviews, audits, product meetings, acquisition alignments, tech reviews, etc.
- Support the team in DFMEA and PFMEA development and support discussion with the customer related to these topics.
- Coordinate product demonstrations and recommend solutions for customers while understanding all quality requirements and corresponding documentation.
- Communicate product testing results and provide technical support and solutions to customers.
- Bring the voice of the customer into our platform and product roadmap. Anticipate future customer requirements and contribute to product planning and enhancements.
- Collaborate with each segment of the customers Product Line teams to bring them the voice of the field, technical needs, and future products.
- Serve as the first line technical contact in product development.
- Support technical concepts, special technical projects, and presentations about new product availability as well as new business acquisitions.
- Maintain intimate knowledge of automotive standards.
- Interface with sales and marketing teams to design and deliver solutions.
- Technically support all internal and customer acquisition requests.
- Participate and guide pricing proposals for custom product development.
- Provide new product and technical training to distributors and customers.
- Generate support materials highlighting the use and benefits of our charging products.
- Engineering representative for technical information in efforts to obtain future business.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in Automotive Electronics, EV, E-Mobility, technical marketing/sales, including successful track record acting as customer technical interface or single point of contact, preferably related to electronic design and component manufacturing.
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with a strong understanding of Mechanical Engineering.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required to effectively interact with all functional levels.
- Strong appreciation of customer-specific requirements.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Keen problem-solving acumen.
- Effective planning/organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities as an individual contributor remotely located from core engineering team to actively contribute towards team goals.
- Experience with CAN Protocol.
- Established leadership skills and ability to drive a project to completion.
- Must be capable of analyzing designs received via CAD models, drawings, sketches, and other information provided by customers and sales people.
- Must have a clear understanding of electrical engineering applications as it relates to automotive applications in the areas of engine management, safety, and comfort and convenience.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to assigned tasks.
- Strong technical background in power electronics and software design preferred.
