Our direct client located near Trumbull, CT is an established, successful, growing firm, with a lot of new IT systems initiatives including migration to cloud-based systems. To help with these new projects, they are looking for an experienced Network and Systems Administrator to join their team. This can be a full-time position, or contract/contract-to-hire, they have projects to work on immediately.
Summary: Maintains high availability of all networked systems, including coordination with 3rd party vendors. Primary responsibilities include managing backup and restore, anti-virus systems, hard drive encryption, Microsoft server security patching, third party software patching, VOIP Phone System, and spam appliances as well as overall security of the network. Effectively maintain and manage Active Directory including account creation and group policy development and deployment. Interacts with users and the rest of the IT team. Documentation skills are critical to the successful candidate. Teamwork and a drive to take responsibility for the maintenance and security of the networks are also critical traits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Must have minimum 1 -2 years of experience: Configure, manage and troubleshoot Cisco Firepower appliances, switches, WAPs, LAN /WAN, VPN, FTD and FMC, and DNAC.
- Management and support virtual environment using Nutanix and VMWare.
- Good understanding of VLANs, TCP/IP, and enterprise monitoring solutions.
- Install, configure and support, Anti-virus, DLP, and device encryption of user equipment.
- Maintain Microsoft Windows server infrastructure (proper patching and log review).
- Strong understanding and practical use of SCCM to update, install, configure and patch company systems.
- Support Microsoft network administration duties, including Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, DNS, DHCP, etc.
- Perform software and security updates and other system configuration tasks to ensure the health and high availability of information technology systems.
- Support and lead IT systems projects and high priority efforts.
- Provide on-going communication to manager and end users.
- Troubleshoot diagnose and resolve server / network performance problems
- Document administrative procedures and configurations for backup disaster recovery as well as prepare system documentation and other technical documents.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Investigate, resolve and explain system issues to both technical and non-technical people.
- Provide helpdesk support as required.
- Experience with ManageEngine products a plus.
- Utilize call tracking software (SolarWinds Service Desk) to manage service incidents, service requests, vendor information).
- Stay abreast of current industry trends.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Information Technology, etc. from a four-year college or university, or four to six years related experience and/or training; i.e. equivalent combination of education and experience.
Networking / Computer Skills
Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, Firewall / Spam Appliances, IPS / IDS, Network Security Best Practices, Cloud based solutions and network architecture. The ability to understand more advanced computer skills / technical concepts and be proficient in the advanced knowledge of software such as Microsoft Office Professional, Visio, VOIP Phones, WDS, VMWare, and Wireshark or equivalent. An understanding of HIPAA, the Security Rule, ITIL, and NIST standards are a plus. IT infrastructure project management experience a plus. Excellent communication skills. Occasional late night and weekend work required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations desired: N+, CCNA, S+, CCENT, MCSA or MCSE (Server Infrastructure), VMWare Certification a plus
