We are looking for a mid-level DBA to join a gaming machine manufacturing company located in Sacramento. The candidate will be responsible for managing all levels of the physical database design, maintenance and support functions on database platforms for all types.
This is a hybrid position (2 days office, 3 days remote) where candidate must live in or near Sacramento, CA.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing all levels of the physical database design, maintenance and support functions on database platforms for all types.
- Provides technical assistance in identifying, evaluating systems and procedures as they relate to databases.
- Have a solid understanding of data dictionaries, database structure and layout, installing, upgrading, and managing database applications.
- Design the migration paths from older versions of DB2 to the latest releases
- Develops maintenance strategy and maintenance scripts.
- Ensures accuracy and availability of data.
- Establishes policies and procedures pertaining to database management, security, maintenance and utilization.
- Analyzes database performance statistics and performs required tuning activities to optimize database performance.
- Understands database backup/recovery procedures and develops backup scripts.
- Recommends continuous improvement in database administration.
- Shared on-call responsibilities in 24 x 7 operation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with an emphasis on database theory.
- 2 - 4 years of database management experience
- In-depth knowledge of SOL and database performance optimization.
- Experience with DB2 first and foremost, Oracle, MySQL and SOL Server 2000.
- Experience with DB2 version 8.1, 9, 10, 11.
- Experience with Oracle to DB2 migrations
- Experience with C-tree database is a plus
- OBA experience in multiple operating system environments, to include Windows 2000, Linux, and AIX. Other
- Experience in optimizing SOL queries generated by ORM frameworks like hibernate
- Experience working with local and remote DB recoveries
- Experience working with Enterprise level systems requiring high levels of performance and availability
- Self-starter and ability to work with Customers and understand their requirements
- Strong communicator with a proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships
