Job Summary:
As the Director of User Experience, you will lead the design and research organization. You will use your UX expertise to create the product experience strategy for the GovInsights platform, drive cohesion across a large family of products and bring unique business value to the way our agencies and constituents interact with our software. In this role, you will combine your deep understanding of the user with business acumen and the ability to drive excellent product development. Your work will influence product strategy.
You'll work cross-functionally with partners across product, engineering, support, customer success, and sales. You will be a player/coach by offering design and research skills to a subset of the family of solutions, and lead the content, user design and user research efforts. As a key leader in the product and engineering organization you will have a front seat to business decisions, program, project and product efforts and carrying the culture of innovation and vision across the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and drive a compelling vision and direction for Avenu s product experience.
- Influence across multiple product teams to deliver a cohesive and elegant user experience across the footprint.
- Lead, evolve, and inspire a team of passionate UX designers and researchers. Drive a healthy, inclusive culture and support collaboration and transparency between product areas, as well as multiple functions and locations.
- Act as an active, diplomatic leader with a vocal point of view, serving as a culture carrier for the product-led software business of Avenu.
- Drive operational and executional excellence while leading creative thinking at scale across diverse product releases, platforms, and devices.
- Collaborate with Product Designers, Product Owners, Engineering, and Business Analysts on a daily basis for an area of the product suite as the primary player/coach for research and design.
- Leading Content Strategy, partner with Customer Support, Customer Success and Delivery teams to ensure clarity of information to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Participate and at times lead PDLC ceremonies, meetings, workshops, and regular cadence programs as a key member of the product and engineering leadership team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years experience in User Design, Research, Instructional Design or product design related field.
- Experience in SaaS software environments and product-led growth environments.
- Deep experience in leading, managing and coaching teams, specifically product and/or design teams.
- Educational background in design, computer science, product or engineering or equivalent practical experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in UX leadership with accomplishments leading to business impact on B2B applications.
- Experience creating, executing, and delivering against a product roadmap and driving business impact within a high level of complexity.
- Experience building and leading top performing design teams.
- Ability to influence and drive product direction with cross-functional stakeholders at the VP and C-suite level.
- Experience building 0-1 products and/or bringing new types of products into a vertical space.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual workstation, using telephone and computer
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine
- This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office
- The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
