As experts in the technology of light, G&H works with customers to provide optical systems, assemblies, and components for demanding applications. This position is based at our Optical Systems Innovation Hub in St Asaph, North Wales and focuses on electronic system design and development of new imaging and sighting systems for Aerospace & Defence. You will be working with colleagues across the business including product management and business development to support new commercial opportunities as well as operations, supporting technology transfer to manufacture. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team of development engineers working on new cutting-edge products for applications in laser directed energy weapons, multi-band sighting systems for increased situational awareness as well as next-generation advanced imaging that will drive and deliver sustained revenue growth.
Responsibilities include;
Assist development of electronic solutions for a range of electro-optical products utilising FPGA, digital and analogue electronic hardware and software.
Provide electronic systems engineering inputs from concept to manufacture and test
Assist with requirements capture and specification definition, sensitivity analysis, reliability analysis as required
Interfacing with and managing output from sub-contractors
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and perform electronic design, analysis and test
Prepare presentations and reports to a high standard for all phases of the project
Support handover from design to production
Work with Business Development and Engineering teams to support new opportunities and generate solutions for customers
Ideal candidates will have the following attributes;
Essential:
Bachelor s degree level in Electrical and/or Electronics engineering, 2:1 or better
At least 4+ years experience
Demonstrable knowledge in digital and analogue signal processing, and video processing.
Analogue electronics design experience
Schematic capture and layout
Create and maintain technical documentation that supports the product development process including product specifications, manuals and end user instructions
Ability to create and give presentations to customers and partners
Knowledge or experience of the full design lifecycle, including taking designs from initial negotiations through requirements capture, sub-system design, hardware design and test to final integration.

Demonstrable problem solving skills
Positive, flexible approach to working with a can do attitude
Desirable:
Firmware development experience, C, (C++, C#, Python advantageous)
Understanding of qualification standards (e.g. IEC, MIL, DEF-STAN, STANAG, ESCC/ECSS)
Demonstratable knowledge in digital and analogue video processing
Experience of production test planning for electronics.
