We seek candidates whose work expands the existing expertise of the current faculty in early childhood education, with a focus on policy, advocacy, teaching, learning, and research in early childhood education and well-being that will influence the national dialogue on effective educational practices and policies in early childhood education and well-being. We are interested in candidates with scholarly, clinical, and teaching experiences related to anti-racist, anti-bias, and culturally sustaining practices. The successful candidate will have 3 - 5 years of teaching experience in higher education settings, and be able to teach courses in the Leadership, Policy, and Advocacy for Early Childhood Wellbeing program, and in the teacher preparation program in Early Childhood Education, both at the graduate level. In addition, applicants should be able to collaborate with faculty across the college, as well as serve as a mentor for graduate students in the broader Department/College. Early Childhood Education program area members teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses, advise students, devote time to doing research and provide service to the university and profession. Additionally, in line with the BU Wheelock Guidestar, the clinical applicant will be expected to participate in program and course improvement and development that diversifies the student body, increases enrollment, and broadens the coursework and scope of the programs to meet the goals of the BU Wheelock strategic plan. Our university community welcomes differences, encourages open-minded exploration, and upholds freedom of expression.
The Teaching and Learning Department believes that the cultural and social diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is of great importance for the distinction and excellence of our academic programs and our research. To that end, we are especially eager to have join our ranks a colleague who supports our institutional commitment to ensuring BU is inclusive, equitable, diverse, and a place where all constituents can thrive. Competitive candidates will demonstrate a background of engaged and collaborative scholarship, practice, and teaching that reflects a strong commitment to ensuring equity, diversity, and belonging.
