- Analyze and evaluate cost data, including material, labor, and overhead expenses, to identify areas of improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare detailed cost reports, variance analysis, and profitability analysis to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
- Monitor and report on key cost metrics and indicators, highlighting trends and deviations from budgets or standards.
- Maintain and enhance the cost accounting system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date cost data is available for analysis and reporting purposes.
- Develop and implement cost accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Review and improve cost allocation methodologies, ensuring consistency and accuracy across different cost centers and projects.
- Collaborate with the inventory management team to ensure accurate valuation of inventory, including monitoring inventory levels, reconciling discrepancies, and performing regular inventory audits.
- Analyze and report on inventory costs, obsolescence, and slow-moving items, providing recommendations for optimization and reduction of carrying costs.
- Conduct financial analysis on cost-related data, identifying trends, patterns, and opportunities for cost improvement.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on cost optimization strategies, pricing decisions, and product profitability analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation is highly desirable.
- 4+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
- In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles, practices, and standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and perform variance analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
- Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements.
