Role Overview:
As the Head of Software Engineering, you will play a critical role in leading our engineering team through the ongoing transition to a low code / no code development platform. You will be responsible for defining the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for our software development initiatives, ensuring alignment with our business objectives and driving innovation. What you will do:
- Lead the software engineering team in the design, development, and deployment of high-quality software solutions, leveraging the latest technologies and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and drive successful product launches.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team, fostering a culture of experimentation, collaboration, and learning.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for growth and development.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices, standards, and processes to ensure high-quality code, scalability, and maintainability of our software systems.
- Support the Agile/Scrum process, encouraging the empowerment of small-and-mighty teams; ensure that each team member is fully engaged in their projects.
- Lead by example, contributing to the development of code, architecture, and technical solutions, and participating in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software engineering, and provide recommendations for technology adoption and innovation.
- Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and technology providers to evaluate and integrate third-party tools, libraries, and services into our software development process.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in web application development, architecture, and design.
- Proven track record of successfully leading software engineering teams in the design, development, and deployment of complex software solutions.
- Experience in consumer lending required.
- Familiarity with relevant languages and technologies (Java/Scala/Spring Boot, Python/Flask/Django, JavaScript/Node, Ruby/Rails, Docker/Kubernetes)
- Experience in Web, API, Distributed, and Front-End development (React, Angular, etc.)
- Deep understanding of software engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices, with a focus on agile development, continuous integration, and DevOps.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and inspire cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and drive consensus.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
- Passion for technology innovation, software engineering excellence, and driving positive change within an organization.
- Proven ability to work in ambiguity and solve complex problems.
- Must command technical respect – you can dive into technical discussions and deeply understand and influence them while appreciating decision-making processes that drive the business forward.

The full-time base salary range for this role in the United States is between $220,000 - $260,000 plus commissions + equity + benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as market job location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience as evaluated throughout the interview process.
