Job Title: Jr. IT Helpdesk
Contract Period: 11/1/2024 - 4/30/2025
Work Location: San Jose, CA 95134 Onsite
Position Summary:
We are seeking a technically skilled Jr. IT Helpdesk Technician with a solid problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to supporting end-users. This role will serve as the primary point of contact for IT-related queries, ensuring the smooth operation of all hardware and software systems and providing timely assistance to employees at all levels.
Responsibilities:
- Install and configure hardware and software to ensure optimal usability.
- Physically rack and stack servers, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues promptly and accurately.
- Ensure all electrical safety standards are met.
- Repair or replace damaged hardware as needed.
- Upgrade systems to maintain compatibility across all computers.
- Install and configure systems that support infrastructure and R&D activities.
- Develop and document installation and configuration procedures.
- Conduct tests and evaluations on new hardware and software.
- Serve as the first point of contact for error reporting, providing prompt support to users.
- Foster strong relationships across departments to understand and meet IT needs.
- Conduct daily backup operations to ensure data integrity.
- Manage and update technical documentation as needed.
- Support asset management, including quarterly physical asset audits.
- Track and manage inventory regularly.
Job Requirements:
- Experience: 2-4 years in computer networks and systems maintenance.
- Certifications (Preferred): A+, Linux+, or Cisco Certified Network Associate.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with Foreman deployment and Ansible automation.
- Proficiency with Linux-based OS installations and management (RHEL, CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu).
- Asset management experience.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
