Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc (HATCI) is looking for an experienced Seat Engineer for our Superior Township, MI facility who will:

  • Design and develop Seat Assemblies, and perform releasing duties for North American-based vehicle projects
  • Work with Package Team and Design Studio to develop new models for N.A
  • Develop Engineering Concepts and see parts through to Mass Production
  • Develop innovative solutions to improve Seat Assemblies from cost/mass, performance, and quality perspectives
  • Create and present technical reports to communicate project status and results
  • Recommend engineering improvements through assessing current designs and competitor benchmarking
  • Use previous experience to help mentor and develop fellow engineers within the group
  • Be responsible for generating and completing Advanced Development projects related to part- or system-level improvements for future vehicles

Engineers should be able to demonstrate:

  • Working knowledge of Seat Assembly Systems / Components: Foam, Trim, Mechanisms, Structures, Electronics
  • Experience in cradle to grave product development best practices & processes
  • Advanced packaging, A-Surface feasibility, and working directly with styling (ideal, but not required)
  • Knowledge of US regulations and safety requirements
  • Knowledge of design, manufacturing, and assembly of Seat Components
  • Experience utilizing Computer-Aided Design tools (capability in CATIA V5 ideal, but not required)
  • Travel up to 15% of the time domestically and internationally

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience required
  • Valid Driver's License & satisfactory driving record
