Network Administrator Duration: Long Term Project
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in a hybrid mode, providing network administration, operations and maintenance, and engineering support to a government customer and engineering team.
- Resolve moderately complex network problems and ensure timely resolution of network support requests.
- Meet work-product deliverable deadlines and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Assist with configuration, deployment, and maintenance of network hardware, including Cisco switches, firewalls, and network resources.
- Support installation of CAT 5/6 and fiber cabling, as well as setting up new network drops when required.
- Monitor network resources for faults, traffic anomalies, and resolve user connectivity issues.
- Maintain detailed project and architecture documentation, network inventory, and change history.
- Provide support for cybersecurity efforts, including threat hunting and mitigation, and improving cybersecurity defenses.
- Ensure smooth operation of network systems and equipment, including maintaining up-to-date records and adhering to cybersecurity best practices.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-7 years in Network Systems Administration, Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering support.
- Certifications: COMPTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), or similar certifications.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Cisco network hardware (switches, firewalls) and Layer 2/Layer 3 networking.
- Experience with Zscaler and modern security solutions (SASE, SSE, Zero-Trust, ICAM, PAM).
- Proficient in network cabling (CAT 5/6, fiber) and installing network drops.
- Knowledge of automated network configuration/deployment methods.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal).
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet project deadlines.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to customer service excellence.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with network monitoring software and network equipment evaluation/testing.
- Familiarity with IT security best practices and threat mitigation strategies.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
