RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking an Estimator in San Jose, CA.
Summary:
As a Construction Estimator you will be playing a critical role in company projects at facilities. You will understand cost drivers at the fundamental level while facilitating value engineering efforts cross functionally, enabling us to rapidly scale our manufacturing facilities at speed.
Responsibilities:
* Estimator will understand, develop, compile and present high-level cost estimates for multiple projects
* Develop detailed cost estimates as designs develop, communicating with various stakeholders on cost drivers and value engineering opportunities across all trades
* Use efficient and aesthetic communication methods to escalate risks and communicate opportunities
* Employ a can-do attitude, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and aligned to the program goals
* Create what-if scenario estimates for program strategy and decision making
* Develop long term strategy on estimation methodology, tool and systems for CAPEX projects
* Estimate cost impact related to changes in design and construction strategy during project execution that vary from the Baseline. Work closely with the project team to forecast project costs in a timely manner
* As an Estimator, you will assist team in preparing cost information related to Project funding requests to Management
* Track and summarize estimate performance collaborating with Finance
* Provide support in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to cost estimating problems
* Assist in cost estimating input into specific studies and providing team guidance in key decisions with scope options, various work proposals and decision making
* Show initiative in the development of estimating standards, procedures, systems as well as input to future benchmarking and estimating tools
* Assist the team in developing future cost model structures for procurement bidding process
REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of estimation experience required (All trades preferred)
* Experience in estimation with Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical and life safety systems
* Experience in value engineering and cost modeling with fast turnaround results
* Experience with change management procedures is valued; Ability to provide or prepare cost trend/change estimates in support of the project
* Excellent written and verbal communication presentation skills are a must
* Have an inquisitive and open attitude to exploring new ideas and willingness to continuously learn
* Capacity to work long hours on demanding projects in high stress environments
* Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills
* Demonstrate competency with relevant software such as MS Office Suite and estimating related specific software and tools
* Agile, flexible and open minded
* Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines, aggressive goals and demanding work environment
* Knowledge of how things are built at the fundamental level, experience with construction management preferred
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
