The Opportunity:
The individuals role will be to provide subject matter expertise and support for non-routine strategic business and accounting initiatives within U.S. Finance. This role will provide support for the monthly general ledger close maintain general ledger data requirements and assist with business process support for non-routine transactions. This role will also aid U.S. Finance accounting teams on process design to ensure efficiency consistency and accuracy of accounting results.
The Associate Director Accounting and Business Process reports to the Director Accounting and Business Process within U.S. Finance. The role works closely with operational accounting and financial planning analysis teams within the U.S. along with our corporate accounting digital business and technology solutions DBTS partners.
How you will contribute:
- Oversee and manage accounting and data requirements for the general ledger recommend ledger design configurations to finance users for new initiatives as a subject matter expert.
- Support the monthly IFRS general ledger close process through maintenance of U.S. Finance close schedule performance of key control checks and investigation of unusual variance activity in a time-constrained environment. Function as an intermediary between Corporate U.S. Finance for close related activities.
- Maintain subject matter expert level understanding of reporting and analysis tools utilized by U.S. Finance currently SAP Analysis for Office. Assist in future deployment of new reporting and analysis tools through design testing and implementation.
- Maintain positive working relationships with U.S. Finance personnel across multiple functional teams including coordination of efforts on business and accounting initiatives and provide direction where necessary
- Participate in deployment of software upgrades/modifications by testing key U.S. Finance systems

- Ability to research accounting issues and translate them into operational solutions ability to be hands-on highly competent and be able to independently analyze issues and provide solutions.
- Ability to assess new and unfamiliar business process and quickly link multiple concepts together to understand the complete picture
- Must be able to take initiative to move projects forward and work independently to define and meet objectives
- Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting requirements experience with IFRS NAIC accounting standards preferred
- Effective collaboration manage through influence and leading the activities of others to accomplish business goals and achieve project objectives
- Motivated with the desire to consistently seek out improvements to current processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
- Certified public accountant preferred
- 7 years of financial accounting and reporting experience with progressively increasing responsibilities
- Knowledge and expertise with general ledger accounting software and associated reporting tools. Experience with SAP S/4HAHA General Ledger and SAP Analysis for Office preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word/Excel productivity tools
- Experience within insurance/financial services industry preferred
