About the role:

National Risk Control professionals can start their career as interns.You will have an opportunity to work in National Risk Control, in one of five areas. Your skills, knowledge and experience, will be used to help clients analyze and understand the risks of their operations and develop and implement controls to advance their organization’s profitability and success

Area of Interest - Risk Control

We partner with our clients to improve their safety, health and environmental programs, and practices, by providing strategic solutions that improve productivity and reduce losses. Some examples of these solutions include field risk assessments, gap analyses, e-services, onsite training, auditing, risk improvement strategies, and property risk improvements.

Background - Occupational Safety and Health, Public Health, Industrial Safety, Property/Industrial Engineering

Area of Interest - Claims Advocacy

We partner with our clients and work with insurers to ensure that our clients’ claims are handled in an expeditious manner and resolved at the best possible outcome for our clients. Further we provide other strategic services to assist in managing their total cost of risk.

Background - Business Studies, Construction Management, Law, Communication, Liberal Arts

Area of Interest - Risk Solutions and Analytics

We partner with our clients to evaluate the different risks associated with their primary insurance programs. Our solutions range from data driven reports to inform our clients of their claim and loss experience trends & cost drivers to actuarial and predictive analytics reports for the purpose of evaluating liabilities associated with loss sensitive programs. We also advise our clients on constructing insurance programs that will generate optimal total cost of risk.

Background - Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, Economics, Finance, and other related business studies

Area of Interest - Operations

We partner with leaders to support various operational initiatives for Claims, Loss Control and Analytics practice groups. The Intern will provide support in broader areas such as process improvement, reporting, technology support, coordination with training & communication, and be a liaison to key stakeholders.

Background - Business Studies, Business Administration, Information Technology

Area of Interest - Business Continuity

We partner with Global Brokerage business to help clients manage or mitigate non-insured or uninsured losses. The Business Continuity Intern will have the opportunity to network with all levels of leadership and gain exposure to assessment, planning and testing/training deliverables. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in business continuity planning, exercises, business impact analysis, assist with the roll-out of resiliency program tools, learn about crisis management.

How you'll make an impact

  • Understanding Consultative Solutions: Shadowing consultants, producers, and underwriting teams as they meet with clients and prospects to gain a better understanding of risk improvement, insurance, sales and marketing process.
  • Professional Development: Attending various weekly training engagements to further develop critical qualities of a successful consultant, client service and sales professional (i.e. communications, business etiquette, etc.)
  • Competition: Participating in various innovative risk improvement competitions to challenge your passion for prevention and mitigation of accidents, injuries, business disruption and the associated costs within the insurance brokerage world
  • Building Professional Acumen: Learning about Risk Management, Benefits, Wholesale and Claims businesses to gain a better understanding of clients’ needs and opportunities for growth
  • Gain understanding of processes and systems to undertake loss and operational analysis, risk assessments and risk improvement solutions, while quantifying the impact to our client’s risk improvement strategies.
  • Contribute to operational improvements as an engaged member of the team which includes providing input and suggesting solutions while preparing client risk improvement strategies and while participating in National Risk Control initiatives.
  • Assist with research and in building internal and external resources to promote the evolution of the National Risk Control model.
  • Integrate new technologies within existing tools and processes to improve efficiency and visibility for effective risk improvement.
  • Learn from Loss Control and Claim Professionals in the field to experience effective techniques in prevention, mitigation and claims advocacy through job shadowing at client locations.

About You:

  • Rising sophomores and juniors with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027
  • Availability to participant within program dates: June 2nd, 2025 and ends: August 1st, 2025
  • Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States. For U.S. employment opportunities, Gallagher hires U.S. citizens, permanent residents, refugees, and temporary residents. Temporary residence does not include those with non-immigrant work authorization (F, J, H or L visas), such as students in practical training status. Exceptions to these requirements will be determined based on shortage of qualified candidates with a particular skill. We will require proof of work authorization
