We are seeking a skilled and experienced Platform System Engineer to join our team to architect, build, and maintain the in terface between applications and the Infrastructure as a Service they reside on in support of large-scale government programs . As a Platform System Engineer , you wi ll interact closely with DevOps stakeholders developing the IaaS and customer stakeholders bringing applications to reside on IaaS . T his is a hybrid position and requires on-site work in King George, VA.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor infrastructure and systems installations, including configuration, testing, and maintenance and proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure integrity, optimization, and availability
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify workable solutions, and work with stakeholders to implement fixes
- Implement custom solutions that reduce the need for human interaction and enable faster and smarter business processes
- Engage regularly with Program Manager, Chief Engineer, and other stakeholders and provide reports on project status, activities, and achievements
- Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including materials, labor, and time necessary
- Assist other engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other stakeholders
- Work alongside program stakeholders to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering , or a related field or applicable work experience
- F ive years of Platform System Engineer experience , pref erably in the government sector
- E xperienc e working in a cloud environment
- Experience developing engineering applications for large organization s
- Advanced education and application of business analysis techniques and strategy
- Professional experience and a high-level understanding of working with various operating systems and their implications
Desired Certifications:
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)
- Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP)
- Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP)
