The Senior Buyer - Mechanical role is responsible for competitively acquiring direct materials for JJE North America. Key responsibilities include leading the sourcing process and effective management of overall supplier performance. Strong interpersonal abilities, technical understanding and demonstrating an overall drive for success are required to support upward mobility in the future.
The roles and responsibilities for this position include:
* Assess and develop current and new N.A. supply base by managing metal powertrain commodities such as finished forgings, castings, stampings and bearings.
* Negotiate all supplier commercial matters including piece price, tooling, supply agreements, payment terms, standard terms and cost reductions.
* Manage sourcing activities by conducting competitive bidding events with prospective suppliers and recommending supplier nominations to internal stakeholders.
* Create commodity strategies that drive improved overall performance and competitiveness throughout the supply chain.
* Monitor commodity market trends of critical raw materials, leveraging favorable price swings and protecting against unfavorable shifts.
* Maintain awareness of global and regional macroeconomic factors and international trade policy developments impacting short- and long-term business decisions.
* Provide input to the USMCA strategy, value calculation methods and sourcing content targets.
* Support supplier quality activities by coordinating with the Quality and Engineering teams to resolve supplier quality-related problems. Administer quality claim discussions caused by suppliers.
* Follow the JJENA Code of Ethics, abide by all relevant laws, regulations and company policies, and avoid any inappropriate behavior with suppliers, and support an open and fair environment.
* Other related activities as required.
* Education: Bachelor and above
* Major: Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance or related field
* Language: advanced oral and written skills, fluency in Spanish is preferred
* Work Experience: 7+ years of purchasing experience in auto industry
* Global Work Experience: 3+ years of work experience in multi-national company / multi-cultural environments, especially Mexico or China
* Familiar with advanced purchasing processes and methodologies in the auto industry.
* Experience managing metal powertrain commodities such as finished forgings, castings, stampings and bearings.
* Extensive knowledge and skills managing supplier commercial matters, negotiations and product applications and legal terms
* Knowledge of eDrive materials and components is a plus.
* Proficient with PC and Office tools.
* Strong interpersonal abilities and technical understanding.
* High level of professionalism and accountability.
