FIELD PLANNING ENGINEER

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Field Planning Engineer to join our Augusta ME team to lead and work on various Power Grid Utility and Substation Engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Distribution Line Design: Oversee the design of distribution lines for capital projects.
  • Site Visits and Walkdowns: Perform site visits, system walkdowns, estimating, and attend project meetings.
  • Data Gathering and Specifications: Gather data on-site to determine specifications, including conductor selection, insulation, plans and profiles, cross-section details, LiDAR, and aerial photo data.
  • Design and Planning: Develop efficient and reliable scope of work and detailed designs of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
  • Project Strategy: Plan distribution line routing, decide on structure designs, and optimize design/reliability.
  • Documentation: Create scoping documentation, detailed engineering designs, and SAP executable work orders.
  • Permit Requests: Submit highway permit requests as required.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate design activities to meet schedules, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Technical Reviews: Review distribution line plan and profile drawings, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Construction Support: Provide construction support, resolving site queries, attending site meetings, and performing inspections.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of substation design engineering experience
  • Experience in the power utility field
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • PE license a plus
  • Experience with high and medium voltage
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field

Location: Hybrid office/remote in Augusta, ME

Salary: $72,000 - $102,000- commensurate with experience
