We are seeking an Oracle NMS/OMA Support Analyst who is motivated by variety, is seeking a challenging environment for professional growth, and is interested in supporting large information technology projects for one of our clients, who is located in Pacific Northwest.
As an OMS (Outage Management System)/ Oracle NMS 2.5 and OMA (Operations Mobile Application) Support Specialist, resource will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of Oracle Utilities NMS Version 2.5 and OMA. Resource will collaborate with PSA Team and other ITD cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and enhance system performance.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the Oracle NMS 2.5 platform to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability.
- Perform routine system checks, including database health, server resources, and network connectivity.
- Apply application patches, updates, and security fixes as needed.
- Monitor system logs to identify and resolve potential issues when needed.
- Coordinate with IT team(s) address hardware and software issues when necessary.
- Maintain documentation activities and system changes for future reference.
- Maintain and test disaster recovery plans to ensure system resilience.
- Schedule and perform system upgrades to keep the platform up-to-date with the latest features and improvements.
- Maintain system documentation including, configuration settings, and operational procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues when necessary.
- Facilitate user feedback sessions to gather insights and improve system usability and functionality.
- Investigate and resolve application-related incidents reported by grid operators, field crews, or other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot issues promptly.
- Document incident details, resolutions, and lessons learned.
- Provide timely updates to stakeholders on the status of incident resolution.
- Escalate complex incidents to higher-level support or specialized teams when necessary.
- Conduct root cause analysis to determine underlying issues and prevent future occurrences.
- Coordinate with vendors or third-party service providers for incident resolution.
- Train and mentor junior staff on incident resolution processes and best practices.
- Utilize incident management tools to track and manage incidents efficiently.
- Participate in post-incident reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of the resolution process and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide timely and effective support to Oracle NMS users, including SOC dispatchers, contact center agents and field operators.
- Assist with user training, system navigation, and best practices.
- Address user queries related to trouble management, switching procedures, and system functionality.
- Software Updates: Inform users about new features and updates and assist with the transition to new versions.
- Work closely with project manager and system administrators to configure Oracle NMS and OMA based on operational requirements.
- Customize user interfaces, reports, and dashboards.
- Ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with middleware and external vendor teams to maintain existing integrations between NMS and peripheral systems (CCB, GIS, IVR, EMS/SCADA, AGA etc.)
- Troubleshoot data exchange issues and ensure data consistency.
- Support the integration of EMS/SCADA via LEC interface
- Analyze system performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Optimize database queries, system workflows, and data retrieval processes.
- Implement performance enhancements based on industry trends and best practices.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in mandatory system trainings, requirement gathering workshops and future enhancements of Oracle NMS and OMA applications.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or other relevant field. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of previous experience
- Proficiency in Oracle SQL and PLSQL.
- Operating Systems: Experience with Unix/Linux and Windows environments.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Understanding of disaster recovery switchover and failover processes
- High Availability concepts and architecture. Examples include High Availability (Active/Passive and Active/Active).
- Experience with programming languages that include, but not limited to:
- KSH
- Python
- Java
- JavaScript
- PowerShell
- Desired familiarity with DevOps tools, GIT code repositories, software development lifecycle, etc.
- Data serialization format standards such as XML, JSON, SOAP, and YAML.
- GIS (Geographic Information Systems): Experience with ESRI GIS and Oracle data extraction processes. Understanding of topologies in electric distribution networks (example: radial vs. mesh, balanced vs. unbalanced). Familiarity with the ESRI Utility Network Model.
- Oracle Live Energy Connect: Familiarity with Oracle s Live Energy Connect OT Service Bus technology in support of real-time data acquisition and control feeding the NMS system. Familiarity with the Inter-Control Center Protocol (ICCP), MultiSpeak, Common Information Model (CIM), DNP 3.0, and Modbus.
- Middleware Technologies: Experience deploying packages (WAR) to Oracle WebLogic Server.
- Oracle Service Bus (OSB): Proficient with OSB technologies. Understanding of integration patterns, experience with JMS and queuing technologies such as Oracle Advanced Queuing, and ActiveMQ.
- API Management: Knowledge of API management tools and practices.
- Experience with AWS integration
- Networking: Understanding of network protocols and configurations. Familiarity with firewall and micro-segmentation rules.
- Security: Has worked with the implementation of security best practices for Oracle NMS that include deployment and management of required security certificates
- Experience with NMS application modules that include:
- Web Workspace
- Web Call Entry
- Configuration Assistant for user administration and configuration.
- Service Alert, etc.
- Mobile Application Support (OMA)
- Preparation, configuration, build and deployment of the Progressive Web Application
- User administration
