The Marion Illinois, VMAC is seeking a full time Quality Management (QM) Consultant Registered Nurse (RN) to join Quality Management.
The QM Consultant has position responsibilities that demonstrate experience, and creative approaches to improvement in quality-of-care outcomes. The QM Consultant demonstrates performance that improves the care for a group of patients. The QM Consultant is responsible for the documented outcomes at the program level. Program level outcomes must be demonstrated at any organizational level within a department and/or facility.
Program is defined as a substantial coordinated group of activities impacting patients and/or employees. The QM Consultant is assigned responsibility for their assigned quality management program area activities for the Medical Center and all off-site locations. The QM Consultant collects data, monitors staff compliance with relevant policies, directives, and standards, provides reports detailing trends, and provides direct staff support to all services in planning, designing, integrating, implementing, modifying, and administering, a comprehensive quality management program area. The QM Consultant participates in facility councils, committees, and workgroups. The QM Consultant of Primary Care will conduct quality-of-care reviews as assigned and within the required timeframe.
The QM Consultant of Primary Care acts as a liaison to medical center committees or services to assist in the identification of Quality Management activities, Joint Commission requirements, Office of the Inspector General requirements, and other performance measure activities. The QM Consultant of Primary Care communicates and interacts appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers both in individual and group settings. The QM Consultant of Primary Care maintains confidentiality of patient/employee information electronically, verbally, and written. They perform in a safe manner including infection control practices and in operation of equipment. The QM Consultant of Primary Care integrates and applies pertinent aspects of the Medical Center Quality Management Program into their professional practice. They utilize current evidence- based nursing research and literature in daily practice. The QM Consultant of Primary Care may lead or assist with coordination, education, and sustainment of facility wide tracer programs to promote continuous readiness including but not limited to performing patient and system tracers. The QM Consultant of Primary Care may serve as a member of interdisciplinary groups as directed by the Chief of Quality Safety Value and High Reliability (QSVH) or designee.
They may have other duties as assigned by the Chief of QSVH or designee. The QM Consultant for Primary Care demonstrates Patient Centered Care (PCC) using effective communication with patients, families, visitors, and members of the interdisciplinary team, including the patient in mutual goal setting, and providing patient advocacy when appropriate. Visibly demonstrates the ICARE (Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, Excellence) Core Values in interactions with Veterans, staff, and other stakeholders.
Disaster/Emergency Response: RN's have an inherent duty to rescue by the nature of their license and training. RNs are expected to perform duties within their scope and training to support a disaster or other emergency response. This may include reporting to an alternative work site and alternative work hours for the duration of the disaster. Just-in-time training is the responsibility of the on-site lead.
