Must Haves:
- Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in civil engineering, preferably in disaster recovery or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Strong understanding of building codes and standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough site inspections and document findings accurately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
As a Civil Engineer with FEMA, you will conduct site inspections on disaster-affected facilities to assess and document damage to infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. You will review and analyze architectural and engineering reports, designs, and as-built plans. Your role involves developing detailed scopes of work that comply with relevant codes and standards, and validating applicant-provided scopes of work and cost estimates. You will thoroughly document your analyses and findings in writing, provide technical advice to FEMA staff on the validity of claims.
