Design Engineer
Owings Patterns currently seeks a qualified individual for the position of a Tooling Design Engineer. Owings Patterns designs tooling for, and production runs of thermoformed plastic parts. We serve many different industries including packaging, automotive, heavy truck and appliance, among several others, and focus primarily on customers within a 300-mile radius. Owings Patterns is a solution-centric engineering, concept to production manufacturer, and appreciates value-added relationships with our customers, community, and employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilize Solid Works to Develop Model/Molds and 2D Drawings for Tooling & Mechanical Parts
Tool Fabrication of Designed Thermoforming and CNC Router Tooling
Utilize CAM Software to Develop CNC Tool Paths
Technical Support to Quality Team and Support ISO Processes
Initiate/Support Engineering Change Order Process
Initiate Planning with Production Team for Prototype and Pilot Runs
Drive Process Improvement/Continuous Improvement
Demonstrate Excellent Project Management Skills Thru:
Detailed Planning
Time Management
Progress Tracking
Team Collaboration
Communication Skills
Use of ERP System
Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to use standard 3D part and tool modeling software, ie. SolidWorks
Ability to use CAM software, ie. SurfCam, WorkNC
Adaptability and reliability
Knowledge of the mechanics of thermoforming and CNC router operations
Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
Experience and Education
Plastic Injection Molding and/or Thermoforming Tool Design Experience
(5) years Machinist Experience with CAM and/or G Code Programming Experience Preferred
(Preferred) Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) and Minimum of Three (3) Years of Experience
OR
(Preferred) Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) and Minimum of Five (5) Years of Experience
Salary Range: $75k-$80k

Our work schedule is a 40-hour week, 7:00am-3:30pm with a half hour lunch, Monday Friday.
