As a SPACE POLICY & STRATEGY ADVISOR at the GS-0301-15 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Supports the CJCS in the statutory role to prepare military analysis, options, and plans to recommend to the President and the Secretary of Defense (SecDef) on matters related to space;
- Independently identifies and focuses the attention of senior managers on issues with major defense policy and national security implications;
- Works directly with the Departments of Commerce and Transportation to review civil space launch applications for Joint Force equities;
- Works with industry partners to develop integration strategies of commercial satellite capabilities into the military space architecture to provide direct support to the DOD and Joint Force, supplement military capabilities in daily operations and/or as necessary, shift capacity in crisis and conflict to the DOD mission requirements;
- Supports the development of compartmented strategies and plans to accomplish a coordinated and integrated department approach to space operations;
- Serves as the J5 Special Access Program (SAP) / Compartmented Access Program (CAP) coordinator
