  • The duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with other agencies, laboratories, organizations, institutions and individuals in meeting program needs and objectives.
  • Participates as the WS representative, providing coordination of disease management actions and communications related to disease control and surveillance activities.
  • Represents the National Wildlife Disease Coordinator and Assistant Coordinators at various meetings, councils and conferences to provide program overviews, accomplishments and scientific findings.
  • Drafts such overviews, presentations and publications in consultation with Supervisor.
  • Determines the types of logistical and personnel support for wildlife disease surveillance activities and pre and post sampling activities.
  • Participates in disease control activities, develops cooperative relationships, and assists the states and other agencies in accomplishing wildlife disease control objectives.
  • Responsible for drafting documents and providing written and oral guidance on collecting, preserving, and shipping biological samples from a variety of animal species.
  • Responsible for gathering, compiling, and analyzing data collected from disease control and surveillance activities.
  • Responds to emergency disease outbreaks involving foreign animal, zoonotic, or other diseases where wildlife may be involved.
