- The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
- The duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Leading and working with a specialized team on the development, production, publication and distribution of the weekly Grain Transportation Report (GTR).
- Coordinating weekly production and distribution of the GTR in a timely fashion including: writing/reviewing;/collaborating with team on feature articles, highlights, and various tables/figures/graphs.
- Collecting and analyzing primary economic and market analysis data concerning U.S. bulk grain shipments and serving as a primary specialist in the Agency in the field of bulk grain transport.
- Developing and implementing new data collection sources, refining existing collection methods, and extending the distribution of data to parties who will receive the most market benefit.
- Updating information on the open-data visualization platform and introducing new information and presentation media.
- Serving as technical expert for agricultural transportation/related economic issues and concerns including analysis, stake holder inquiries, and regulatory representation.
- Initiating, formulating, planning, and executing numerous projects with other TSD team members throughout the year requiring research, collection, and analysis of a variety of economic data.
- Serving as main POC with other AMS programs, USDA agencies, universities, non-USDA government agencies, industry trade associations, and company representatives to obtain and share information.
- Active participant in trade shows, seminars, and conferences through participation and presentation of information promoting the activities of the Division and Transportation and Marketing Program.
