GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
- Ability to develop coherent diagnostic and treatment strategies (medical and procedural) for patients with a wide range of skin diseases.
- Ability to implement treatment strategies for skin diseases.
- Ability to perform and interpret the results of laboratory tests from blood, skin and other tissues as well as skin biopsies to evaluate skin diseases and the effect(s) of therapy.
- Ability to guide clinical trainees in Dermatology providing both didactic and experiential teaching.
- Ability to provide professional (in-person or through telemedicine means) advice and
consultation in areas related to skin disease.
- Knowledge of clinical research literature related to skin diseases.
- Adhere to established tour of duty hours.

Clinical Responsibilities (75% of time)
- Diagnosis of patients with neoplastic, inflammatory and other dermatologic problems in outpatient and inpatient areas.- Directly provides medical and surgical treatment of skin diseases to veterans.
- Provides appropriate and direct oversight of mid-level providers, dermatology resident
physicians, and other trainees present in the dermatology clinic.
- Receives and provides triage and disposition for dermatology consults from VA providers as
assigned.
- Review requests for dermatologic care including Mohs surgery from community care providers and
determines that requested care is appropriate.
- For providers performing Mohs surgery, oversees operations of the Mohs laboratory and laboratory
staff to ensure all policies and procedures are appropriate.

Academic/Teaching/Training: (15% of time)
1. Provides clinical supervision to dermatology residents and other trainees in the dermatology clinic.

Program Evaluation/ Research/ (5% time)
1. Oversees the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs assigned
using a data-driven quality assurance process.
2. Is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the
Medical Center or healthcare system as appropriate.
3. Presents outcome data and research results at VA and regional or national scientific or
professional meetings when possible.
4. Assists in preparation of clinic SOPs, RFP's and grant proposals, as assigned.

Other Significant Responsibilities (5% time)
1. Serves on Medical Center or Healthcare System, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task
forces as assigned.
2. Represents Section Dermatology on decision-making committees at the Medical Center or Healthcare
System as assigned.
3. Represents the Medical Center or Healthcare System at professional/program community
group/events and committees as assigned.

Work Schedule: 8:00am - 16:30pm Monday - Friday
