Major Duties:
- Uses independent judgment to resolve clinic scheduling difficulties including arrangements with other professional/technical support personnel on atypical or complex situations (i.e. travel, lodging, escorts or scheduling difficulties requiring independent judgment to resolve). Refers complex situations to the Health Systems Specialist in a media appropriate for the circumstance (i.e. telephone, e-mail or in-person).
- Responsible for recognizing, analyzing and recommending solutions for the efficient conduct of patient care activities in the Eye Center. Conducts outpatient interviews, guides patients through the outpatient system, makes referrals, provides follow-up; documents complaints/compliments and suggests resolution to proper officials. The AMSA acts as a patient advocate, working to expedite care and resolving issues.
- Provides advice to professional/technical staff on eligibility determinations, and medical center procedures, policies and directives. Provides written material, reference materials and supplies as needed.
- Collaborates in advance with Health System Specialist to ensure provider and associated staff's scheduled leave matches cancelled appointments demonstrating flexibility and willingness to accommodate physicians and support staff in scheduling procedures within established protocols.
- Receives referrals from other professional/technical support personnel on a typical or very complex situations (i.e. travel or clinic scheduling difficulties requiring independent judgment to resolve). Refers complex situations to the Health Systems Specialist and/or Administrative Officer in a media appropriate for the circumstance (i.e. telephone, e-mail or in-person).
- Acts as liaison with various clinical services throughout the Eye Center to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the area. Evaluates any problem areas and coordinates with the appropriate service to resolve these problems. Reports to the Health Systems Specialist any typical or unresolved problems.
- Mainly performs scheduling, administrative cross coverage, referral and consult management for the Eye Center.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:30am to 5:00pm
