Merjent, Inc. (Merjent) is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Licensed Land Surveyor to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a professional who is eager to work on diverse energy-related projects across different states. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting topographic surveys, ALTA/boundary surveys, land surveys, preparing reports, and ensuring accurate project execution in compliance with all regulatory standards. Additionally, this role involves a commitment to developing our internal team by training field staff to work as survey technicians, enhancing our surveying capabilities and efficiency.

Flexible/hybrid work arrangements are available, as Merjent promotes this for self-sufficient professionals who can work and/or learn successfully in a remote work environment. The anticipated salary for this position is between $143,000 - $152,500, depending on qualifications and experience.

responsibilities

The Licensed Land Surveyor is responsible for the following:

  • Conduct and oversee land surveys for a variety of energy-related projects, including pipeline, natural gas, electric transmission and distribution, and water resources projects.
  • Prepare and review survey reports, maps, drawings, and descriptions to ensure accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide surveying expertise and support project planning and execution.
  • Train and mentor internal field staff to develop their skills as survey technicians, ensuring a high standard of surveying practices and contributing to team growth.
  • Manage survey equipment and technologies, staying abreast of advancements in surveying tools and techniques to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure all surveying activities adhere to industry standards, safety guidelines, and environmental regulations.
qualifications and experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Current Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license, with eligibility to become licensed in additional states as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in land surveying.
  • Previous experience or training with CAD software and GIS (AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcMap).
  • Proficiency in surveying software and technology, such as GPS, GIS, and CAD applications.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proven ability to train and mentor team members.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, with a track record of delivering accurate surveying services within tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel and work on projects in different states, adapting to varying regulatory and environmental conditions.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively to project sites across different states.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
