Mesa seeks an AutoCAD Electrical Technician for our TVA substation engineering team based out of Chattanooga, TN. The successful candidate will have the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Possess an understanding of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical
  • Willing to learn development of AutoCAD Electrical component and footprint elements
  • Willing to learn and execute best practices for template development and library maintenance.
  • Willing to learn the Client s drafting standards and practices.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems related to AutoCAD Electrical library development and maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently with direction, while not hesitating to ask questions when needed.
  • Possess aptitude for developing a strong working relationship with the AutoCAD Electrical development team, P&C Design Staff and Group Leads.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess willingness to develop, promote, and comply with Mesa quality requirements.
  • Possess willingness to develop, promote, and comply with Mesa safety requirements.
  • Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and software used for specific technical applications within the group.

Education/Experience/Licensure:

  • Associate s degree in drafting or technology field preferred. Level of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in AutoCAD is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Create AutoCAD Electrical Front View, Schematic and Wiring Drawing library symbols per TVA standards
  • Maintain the TVA symbol library in Vault and update as required
  • Create and maintain Acade wildcarded Front View, Elementary and Wiring template drawing sets as standards change and new needs arise
  • Collaborate with developers to stay current with the TVA custom tool set, answer questions from design team members regarding the tools and their use
  • Coordinate with the development team and IT personnel regarding software versions and installations
  • Work as a liaison between the design and development teams to develop ideas for new tools to increase design efficiency
  • Develop and maintain a best practices workflow with the assistance of the development team. Coordinate workflow changes and mentor the design team.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the group
  • Foster strong relationships between the development and design teams through communications and support.
  • Use good verbal and written communication skills with team members and clients.
  • Use good interpersonal skills to build relationships with team members and clients.
  • Complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy to provide quality deliverables.
  • Support the P&C design team as availability allows to increase knowledge of P&C substation design.
