Job Description
Job Summary
The Pre-Press CAD designer will be responsible for creating detailed CAD designs and layouts, along with high-quality samples (when applicable) for various print finishing projects. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, creativity, and hands-on production skills to support the company's efforts in delivering exceptional print finishing solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Additional duties may be assigned
CAD Design: Create accurate and detailed CAD designs and layouts for print finishing projects including: Die cutting, embossing, and foil stamping, with an emphasis on foil stamping and embossing projects.
Sample Making: Produce physical samples of print finishing designs using various materials and techniques. Operate and maintain sample-making equipment (plotter and other prototyping tools). Ensure samples are produced to high quality standards and within project timelines.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the sales, and production departments to ensure clear understanding of project requirements and timelines. Provide technical support and advice to team members and customers regarding design feasibility and production processes.
Quality Control: Review and verify the accuracy and quality of CAD designs and samples before the final production. Identify and address any potential issues or improvements in the design and sample making process. Ensure all work meets the company's quality standards and client expectations.
Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain organized records of all CAD designs, revisions, and sample production processes. Prepare and update documentation as needed to support production and design activities.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and technologies related to CAD design and print finishing. Propose and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and innovation in design and sample production.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (Cimax, Adobe, Illustrator, Adobe PDF). Experience working with vector art/converting text and images to vector art. Strong understanding of print finishing processes and materials.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Strong attention to detail and problem solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and work at a computer terminal for long periods of time.
